Olzhas Smagulov, Deputy Mayor of Almaty, held an off-site meeting at the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research (CAIER), where he familiarised himself with the institute's activities.
During the official visit, Aselle Tasmagambetova, ecologist and founder of CAIER, together with experts from the Institute, presented the Deputy Mayor of Almaty with the interim results of scientific research and analysis of water resources in Almaty.
The Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research has been actively involved in water conservation issues for over 10 years, has conducted a number of studies on transboundary waters, has patented water purification methods, and has developed innovative devices for rainwater harvesting.
In addition to its scientific activities in the field of rational water use, CAIER has patented a reagent for cleaning soil from petroleum products, as well as a method for producing building materials from industrial and petroleum production waste.
