CAIER and the Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after Safi Utebayev have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research (CAIER) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas (AUOG), aimed at developing scientific and educational collaboration in the field of sustainable development and ecology.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Asel Tasmagambetova, an ecologist and founder of CAIER, and Akmaral Zhalgasbayeva, Director of the Institute for Advanced Training and Continuing Education at AUNG.

It should be noted that the partnership agreement is a landmark for the industry: today, CAIER is the leading independent environmental institute in Central Asia, possessing strong expertise in scientific research, sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, efficient water use, and industrial waste processing. In turn, AUNG is the only specialized university in Kazakhstan fully focused on training personnel for the fuel and energy sector (FES).

The agreement provides for the implementation of joint scientific research, the exchange of expert knowledge, and participation in educational initiatives aimed at training a new generation of specialists. Particular attention will be paid to issues of the rational use of natural resources, the processing of industrial waste, and the reduction of the environmental impact in the oil and gas sector.

Commenting on the signing of the memorandum, Aselle Tasmagambetova noted:

“CAIER has been systematically engaged in educational activities aimed at implementing the principles of sustainable development within the company for many years. Our Institute adheres to the principles of social responsibility and places great emphasis on training and shaping the market for future professionals.”

In turn, Akmaral Zhalgasbaeva noted that AUNG conducts extensive educational outreach and organizes timely educational programs; the university also cooperates with educational institutions in Azerbaijan, China, and other countries.

Zhalgasbaeva noted that the partnership with CAIER opens up new opportunities for the integration of science, education, and practice, and also contributes to strengthening the region’s expert capacity in the field of sustainable development.
