CAIER participated in the conference of the International Scientific and Public Environmental Council of the EAEU countries

Mr. Adylkhan Towasarov, PhD in Chemistry, Academician of MANEB, Director General of the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Studies (CAIER) spoke at the founding conference of the International Scientific and Public Environmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The event took place on December 16-17 in Moscow. The initiator of the Eco-Council was the ANO “Center for Advanced Scientific and Educational Programs of the Eurasian Space ‘Eurasimut’. It includes representatives of the National Academies of Sciences, government agencies, business and expert community of the EAEU countries.

The main goal of the Eco-Council was to form a unified environmental agenda of the region and coordinate joint efforts for sustainable development and addressing global environmental challenges.

One of the most important tasks of the Eco-Council is popularization of science and involvement of young people in scientific activities aimed at improving the environmental friendliness of the Eurasian region.

The key topics of the conference were partnership in the EAEU environmental agenda: transboundary challenges, development of green economy, combating climate change, water conservation, elimination of objects of accumulated harm. The Eco-Council also discussed digital ecology: the use of innovative technologies for monitoring, management and prevention of environmental risks; environmental education: training a new generation of specialists and raising environmental awareness.

Based on the results of the conference and the meeting, a roadmap will be created, specific recommendations and action plans of the Eco-Council will be developed and the implementation of joint research long-term projects and programs on waste, water conservation, biodiversity, environmental digitalization and environmental education will be discussed.
