CAIER conducted ESG training for the management of the Commercial and Industrial Bank of China in Almaty

The Central Asian Institute for Environmental Studies (CAIER) conducted a two-day training programme on ESG fundamentals for the staff of the Commercial and Industrial Bank of China in Almaty.

The programme was focused on developing a systemic understanding of ESG approaches and their relevance for financial institutions. The training covered both strategic aspects and practical tools for integrating ESG into corporate governance.

The first session, held on 10 April, focused on the basic concepts of sustainable development, international and national ESG agenda, as well as key environmental, social and governance issues. Participants looked in detail at climate risks and took part in an interactive business game on their management.

The second session, held on 11 April, focused on embedding ESG into corporate practice. Special attention was paid to the stages of ESG transformation, non-financial reporting standards (GRI, ESRS, IFRS) and approaches to assessment through ESG ratings. In conclusion, the participants developed an ESG roadmap based on a practical case study in a teamwork format.

CAIER would like to thank Commercial and Industrial Bank of China JSC in Almaty for their interest and active participation in the training. We are confident that the knowledge gained will become a reliable basis for further integration of ESG principles into management processes.
