Ignoring ESG-principles entails numerous risks for economy and ecology
On May 17, CAIER participated in a meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Monitoring the Implementation of the National Sustainable Development Goals and Targets of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted the lack of centralized coordination and promotion of the ESG agenda in the country. Representatives of government agencies and experts from industries voiced proposals for the development of ESG regulation and initiatives in Kazakhstan. The experts presented recommendations on the development of “green” financing, standardization of ESG-information disclosure, improvement of the methodology for assessing greenhouse gas emissions, the need to develop scientific research in the field of ESG and others.
CAIER also sent its recommendations to the commission for consideration. Following the meeting, the recommendations and proposals will be analyzed, and further steps on their implementation will be on the control of the Senate Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship.
