Today is the 12th anniversary of the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Studies (CAIER)!
The founder of CAIER - Asel Tasmagambetova, ecologist, president of the charity fund "Sabi" - taught environmental law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and with like-minded students decided to open the Institute, which will conduct independent environmental research.
Over the years, the Institute has patented a number of innovative inventions in ecology, including a reagent for cleaning water and soil from oil and petroleum products, and a composition for obtaining construction materials from oiled soils.
CAIER provides all kinds of environmental services, including ESG consulting, geochemical and research works, as well as has its own RnD laboratory, which will help to solve the problems of recycling and utilization of industrial waste.
Since 2015, 8 international expeditions have been conducted under the auspices of CAIER to study the decline of the Caspian seal population and the catastrophic situation in the Caspian Sea. The data from these expeditions became a reason in 2020 to include the Caspian seal in the Red Book of Kazakhstan.
In 2019, the Centre for Research and Rehabilitation of the Caspian seal - the only specialized institution in the Northern Caspian providing veterinary care to the Caspian endemic - was opened on the basis of CAIER.
We warmly congratulate the CAIER team on the anniversary and wish them success in their work, new interesting projects and broad development horizons!
