The Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research (CAIER) has received a patent for an ergonomic rainwater harvesting device.
The design includes a funnel-shaped catchment, a strainer, a vertical rod, piping systems for water drainage and a storage unit.
The design is made in such a way that rainwater enters the catchment, passes through the strainer and drains through the installed piping system for water diversion, and then enters the storage unit for storage.
“The Institute has been working on water conservation for several years and has authored a number of research papers in this area. We studied several types of water-saving designs, took into account all the shortcomings of the prototypes and created a device available in application: with relative ease of assembly and installation, the design has a low cost and favorable in use. Thus, thanks to this design, the Institute was able to reduce the consumption of water used for technical needs by 33%,” said ecologist Asel Tasmagambetova, founder of CAIER, about the advantages of the device.
It is expected that the innovative rainwater harvesting device developed at CAIER can be used in industry and agriculture, as well as for irrigation of green areas and technical needs in urban and rural areas.
