CAIER participated in the inauguration of the first university Center for Sustainable Development

On September 6, 2023, the opening ceremony of Center for Sustainable Development, the first such center in Kazakhstan opened at University, took place at Satbayev University within the framework of International Round Table "UN Sustainable Development Goals: Principles of Environmental Safety". The event also included the adoption of the University's strategy for Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by Vlastimil Samek, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications, Dinara Seitzhaparova, representative of the UN Global Compact, Almasha Arenova, Head of the Department of Political Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Assel Nurbekova, Director of Environment and Energy Department of UNDP in Kazakhstan, Zhang Wei, Consul for Science and Technology of the PRC in Almaty.

Satbayev University has become the first and so far the only University in the Republic of Kazakhstan to be included in the UN Global Compact. In turn, CAIER (Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research) joined the UN Global Compact in 2022.

Assel Tasmagambetova, ecologist, founder of the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research, was invited to the event as an expert to share her experience in implementing educational programmes in line with the UN SDGs.

It should be reminded that CAIER is carrying out systematic educational work in the field of practical application of sustainable development and ESG principles in the work of Kazakhstan leading companies.

To this end, the Institute organized a number of events for the Central Asian business community.
