The representatives of KBTU were particularly interested in CAIER's expertise in water issues: at the moment the Institute's scientists are studying the possibility of developing programs for regions and businesses to optimize water consumption based on the study of historical materials, scenario analysis and suggesting ways to optimize the use of this valuable resource, including available technologies for the use of alternative water sources. In turn, the guests spoke about KBTU's experience in water-related issues, including IT solutions for the development of predictive models. During the visit, they also discussed issues related to sustainable development of Kazakhstan, including those relevant to higher education institutions. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to exchange experience in issues related to water balance. It is planned that in the near future CAIER experts will conduct a series of training seminars for KBTU students on sustainable development and biodiversity conservation. In continuation of the agreement CAIER experts were invited to the meeting-up “Sustainable Development and Technologies”, which was held on August 16 at KBTU “In the opinion of the CAIER team, such events are of great importance, as they allow participants to exchange experience, form a list of topical issues and problems, and shape trends in sustainable development issues,” said Dmitry Metelev, CAIER Commercial Director.
