The participants of Urban Forum Kazakhstan visited the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Studies (CAIER).
Aidana Vayhanova, an Associate Researcher at the CAIER, guided an excursion for the country's leading architects to explore the Institute's building, which holds an international LEED certificate. It is worth noting that this certificate is awarded only to the best construction projects that meet all the requirements of energy efficient and environmental design.
In turn, Adil Nurmakov, the Head and Co-Founder of Urban Forum Kazakhstan expressed interest in the rainwater harvesting devices installed at the Institute.
This facility helps CAIER to reduce the consumption of potable water used for technical needs by 33%.
Nurmakov holds his author's course on Sustainable Ways of Rainwater Harvesting. The expert noted that the CAIER installations are efficient and can be scaled up.
The architects also visited the innovative RnD laboratory, where they were introduced to the author's developments.
In particular, scientists of the Institute headed by Asel Tasmagamebetova, an ecologist and the CAIER founder, and Adylkhan Tovasarov, PhD in chemistry and the CAIER General Director, developed and patented a method of manufacturing construction materials from oiled soils and an innovative method of cleaning soil from petrochemical products.
Following the meeting, it was decided to develop joint projects and initiatives.
