Aselle Tasmagambetova became the Chair of the Advisory Committee of the UN Global Compact in Central Asia
Ecologist, Aselle Tasmagambetova took office as Chair of the Advisory Committee of the UN Global Compact in Central Asia, established to effectively address transboundary issues related to water, environment, hunger and poverty, infrastructure, energy and food security.
This was announced at the meeting of the Committee held today in Almaty.
Within the framework of which the solemn awarding ceremony of the participants of the UN Global Compact SDG Ambition Accelerator was held.
Aselle Tasmagambetova is the founder of Sabi Charitable Foundation, Central Asian Institute for Environmental Studies (CAIER), Telli bio-boutique, private school named after Shokan Ualikhanov and Telli Ordurys cosmetics production plant.
“Over the 2 years of the UN Global Compact's work in Kazakhstan, the number of signatories has increased from 7 to 140. This shows the commitment of Kazakhstani companies to the principles set out in the Sustainable Development Goals. During my chairmanship of the UNGC Advisory Committee, I propose to the signatories to move to real action and focus on the implementation of the SDGs in the work of specific enterprises. In this way, we can achieve the important goals of 'From Sustainable Company to Sustainable Region',” explained Ecologist Aselle Tasmagambetova.
The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative launched by the United Nations in 2000 to encourage businesses and organizations around the world to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and practices. The UN Global Compact is based on ten universally recognized principles that cover four key areas: human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
